Senior Accountant, Austin, TX 22-17-AUS07

Required Education and Skills

  • BS in Accounting
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in general accounting, financial statement preparation, payroll, and job costing for project management and corporate financial reporting
  • Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting, federal tax basics, state and local tax and regulatory reporting, as well as financial reporting procedures
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Well-versed in FP&A and associated tasks/cycles
  • Knowledge of government contracting and FAR requirements/reporting
  • Experience with Axium, Deltek, or other A/E software
  • Familiar and knowledgeable with SQL

 

Responsibilities

General Ledger and Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly subsidiary financial statements
  • ERP planning, administration, and maintenance, including potential subsidiary implementations
  • Departmental growth projects, including policy development/maintenance and other growth initiatives
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Maintain financial security by implementing internal controls
  • Participate in audit coordination and administration

Payroll:

  • Maintain payroll data, process payroll, and resolve any discrepancies
  • Answer payroll questions and requests
  • Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages
  • Assist Controller in determining payroll liabilities by calculating employee federal, state income and social security taxes in addition to employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments
  • Assist Controller in preparing monthly tax statements, quarterly payroll tax filings, and annual workers comp audits

Fixed Assets:

  • Enter data into Fixed Asset Software
  • Record entries and prepare monthly depreciation reports
  • Process annual property renditions and review the property tax billings

Timesheet Review:

  • Weekly review of staff timesheets for data entry accuracy

​​Project Accounting:

  • Review account totals related to project assets expenses
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management
  • Investigate unpaid contract billings and all project expenses not billed to customers
  • Create accounts for new projects and closeout accounts once the project has been completed

Other:

  • Assist Controller in preparing reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, cash flow, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations
  • Ability to undertake programming projects in Ajera by Deltek
  • Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned


Although located in our Austin, Texas, office, this position offers flexible schedules and core hours with a hybrid work model that incorporates a mixture of time in the office and time working from home.
