Geologist / Hydrogeologist, Kailua, HI 22-28-HI01

INTERA Incorporated is seeking a mid-level Geologist / Hydrogeologist to join our Kailua, Hawaii, office. Responsibilities

You will be working with a technical team of geologists, hydrologists, geochemists, engineers, and GIS analysts. Our primary focus is to develop science-based, sustainable, and economic solutions to their water resources/environmental challenges. As part of the team, you will be expected to:

  • Lead and participate in field efforts and quantitative studies
  • Develop and implement technical work plans
  • Collect, manage, and analyze data
  • Provide subject matter expertise to PMs on a variety of projects
  • Author reports, develop presentations, and interact with clients
  • Grow our service offerings and client base

 

Required Education and Skills

  • Bachelor’s in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in geology and hydrogeology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • The ability to travel to project sites or meetings, including drilling and related field activities that may last one to several weeks at a time
  • Skilled at analyzing/manipulating data, and project and task management
  • Previous experience with Phase I ESAs, environmental drilling techniques, and environmental sample collection
  • Previous experience with Hawaii-specific hydrologic, geologic, and groundwater quality datasets
  • Previous experience with Hawaii-specific groundwater and well regulations in addition to Hawaii permitting requirements
  • Previous experience with drilling oversight, logging, and soil/groundwater sampling
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

 

Preferred Education and Skills

  • Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field
  • Professional registration as a California geologist or hydrogeologist
  • Previous experience with conducting aquifer testing campaigns
  • Previous experience with Geologic modeling software
  • Previous experience with well siting, design, and rehabilitation
  • Prior work experience with an environmental or engineering firm
