Groundwater Modeler / Quantitative Hydrogeologist, New Mexico or Colorado, 23-17-ABQ04

INTERA Incorporated is looking to fill an entry- to mid-level position for a Groundwater Modeler/Quantitative Hydrogeologist. You can be located in either New Mexico or Colorado and your focus will be to support our Mining and Environmental line of business. Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support for hydrogeologic analysis under the direction of INTERA’s senior modelers/hydrogeologists. This includes the following:

  • Perform quantitative hydrogeology and numerical flow and transport modeling
  • Compile, synthesize, and analyze data to develop conceptual and numerical models of groundwater flow systems
  • Analyze data using a variety of techniques such as GIS, geostatistics, statistics, or time-series analysis
  • Analyze aquifer pumping test data
  • Apply the aforementioned skills to project problems, including assessing the potential impacts for mine permitting, closure, and operations
  • Report preparation and technical presentations to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Other job duties may include short-term work in the field

 

Required Qualifications

  • MS in Hydrogeology, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Solid understanding of hydrogeological principles and practices
  • Experience with developing MODFLOW-based groundwater models
  • Python skill set
  • Located in New Mexico or Colorado. Relocation assistance may be provided if necessary.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-10 years of applicable experience with an emphasis on quantitative hydrogeology and/or groundwater modeling
  • Experience with optimization software such as PEST and PEST++
