INTERA Incorporated is looking for a self-motivated Sr. Water Well Specialist to join the Aquifer Characterization Group in our Water Resources & Supply Line of Business. The individual can be situated at a location of their choosing, as long as they are able to travel across the United States to support field work and logistics.
Our ideal candidate is a team player and someone who can directly assist with and lead field projects involving field-based hydrogeologic characterization including cost estimating, contracting, water well drilling, construction, development, testing, rehabilitation, diagnostics, SCADA implementation, etc. Further, the ideal candidate will play an active role in business development and may also support drilling-based projects in other lines of business (Mining, Environmental and Federal).

Job Description
The responsibilities for this position include:
- Provide oversight, guidance and expert opinion on the development of water well drilling/rehabilitation/testing/development scopes-of-work
- Work directly and maintain regular contact with an ever-increasing list of drillers and water well related contractors, both locally and internationally
- Develop, manage and finalize projects and tasks, specifically as they relate to water wells
- Work with colleagues to ensure that the selected drilling contractor is aware of, and complies with, INTERA Statements of Work; including drilling type/style, schedule/forecast, oversight and review of drilling tickets, lithologic interpretation, geophysical logging, well construction, post-construction development, pump design and placement, aquifer testing, permanent pump design and placement, and all equipment associated with remote monitoring of the well/wellfield
- Work with INTERA colleagues to develop a new program/line of business designed to monitor well/wellfield performance based on SCADA to determine rehabilitation schedules.
- Lead business development efforts related to water well drilling, rehabilitation and instrumentation of remote monitoring equipment
- Oversee work performed by subcontractors, to ensure work is completed in accordance with workplans, design drawings, specification, and/or client expectations
- Interface with clients
- Continue to build upon and further refine INTERA’s approach to field work involving water wells, including development of SOP’s and similar documents.
Required Education and Skills
- An Undergraduate degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in geology and hydrogeology consulting
- A minimum of 10 years of experience working directly for a recognized water well drilling company
- Professional registration as a geologist preferred but not required
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Experience with developing cost estimates and proposals for water wells. Specifically, acquiring bids from multiple drilling firms and ensuring consistency between and amongst the bids
- Work in a group setting, and occasionally after normal business hours, to ensure that proposals, final reports and interim analysis are delivered with quality and when needed
- Experience developing and maintaining long-lasting relationships with drilling firms
- Experience with development of an engineered well design
- Experience with drilling oversight both from afar and on-site
- Experience with the various water well drilling techniques
- Experience with water well development and ability to provide direct guidance and subsequently certify compliance with the driller
- Experience with the many nuances of water well rehabilitation and the ability to provide direct guidance and subsequently certify compliance with the rehabilitation contractor
- Ability to generate and adapt Standard Operating Procedures to ensure that INTERA is approaching field work with excellence and consistency
- Ability to work with geologists, engineers, and other earth scientists in a team setting
- Experience with project or task management
- The ability to work independently to complete technical work
- The ability to travel to project sites or meetings, including drilling and related field activities
- The ability to plan ahead and subsequently attend trade shows, professional meetings, etc., to promulgate INTERA capabilities and meet industry professionals that could help INTERA expand services to new clients
- The ability to manage/mentor junior and field staff
Base salary range for this position: $100,000 - $120,000 per year
