INTERA Incorporated is looking to fill an entry-to-mid-level Groundwater Modeler position to support our work in the field of decision support modeling for the mining industry. Candidates who wish to work remotely will be considered, as well as candidates who wish to work in any of our U.S. offices.

This position will join a team of highly qualified modelers working on groundwater decision support modeling projects and general hydrogeologic analysis under the direction of INTERA’s senior modelers/hydrogeologists. The work involves applying innovative and cutting-edge modeling approaches to support project problems ranging from mine dewatering to closure to develop solutions that are informed by uncertainty and optimized for reliability. The position requires knowledge of groundwater hydrology, numerical methods, MODFLOW codes, and computer programming. Experience with decision support software such as PEST and/or PEST++ is a plus.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support on decision-support modeling projects under the direction of INTERA’s senior modelers. This includes:

• Compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing data to develop conceptual and numerical models of groundwater flow systems
• Creating inputs and postprocessing and evaluating outputs from groundwater models
• Carrying out quantitative hydrogeologic and statistical analyses using groundwater models
• Practicing quality assurance/quality control procedures for modeling, report preparation, and technical presentations to clients, regulators, and other interested parties

Required Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering, Hydrogeology, or a related field with an emphasis on groundwater hydrology and/or groundwater modeling
• Previous experience with developing MODFLOW-based groundwater models
• Proficiency in computer programming (python, R, C++, MATLAB, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• MS in Civil Engineering, Hydrogeology, or a related field with an emphasis on groundwater hydrology and/or groundwater modeling
• Previous experience with PEST/PEST++ decision support modeling software
• Python skill set

Expected salary range:  $60,000 — $130,000
