INTERA is searching for a creative and motivated Senior Water Resources Engineer with a strong understanding of water utility planning, engineering, operations, and regulations. Key Responsibilities

The mission of our water utilities team is to help water agencies achieve long-term resiliency and sustainability. Water agencies face numerous challenges including climate change, emerging contaminants, limited water supplies, evolving regulations, and water service affordability. Our goal is to find creative ways to integrate INTERA’s high level of technical expertise into novel approaches and innovative solutions for our clients so that they can make informed decisions and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Candidates who wish to work remotely will be considered, but preference will be given to those who reside in California, Houston, Texas, Denver, Colorado, or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Key responsibilities for the Senior Water Resources Engineer position include:

  • Effectively collaborating with INTERA’s strategic planning and business development teams to enhance the reach and value of our water utilities services
  • Working as a project manager or technical lead within multi-disciplinary teams to meet project objectives on schedule and within budget
  • Maintaining a current understanding of utility business drivers and challenges to anticipate client needs, and guiding them toward appropriate solutions
  • Developing complete and accurate scopes and budgets for proposed work
  • Completing preliminary/conceptual engineering design, cost estimating, and economic analysis for water supply infrastructure associated with planning studies and alternatives analysis
  • Presenting findings to clients, colleagues, and other interested parties
  • Reviewing reports and research done by other scientists and engineers
  • Mentoring junior staff

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in civil or water resources engineering, hydrogeology, or a related field
  • PE license and NCEES Record
  • 10+ years of experience including working closely with or at public and private water agencies
  • Previous experience with aspects of water utility planning, water supply development, water quality, water and wastewater treatment, utility infrastructure, operations, permitting, and regulation
  • Effective project management and client management skills
  • Clear, well-rounded communication skills and the ability to maintain strong interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to collaborate across diverse, multidisciplinary teams
  • Clear, concise technical and non-technical writing skills
  • Adept planning, time management, and organization skills
  • Willingness to travel to meet project and/or client needs
