Groundwater / Vadose Zone Modeling Specialist (Mid-Level) - 24-26-US11

INTERA Incorporated is looking to fill mid-level Groundwater / Vadose Zone Modeler positions to support our work in the field of subsurface flow and transport modeling and system-scale modeling. Candidates who wish to work remotely will be considered, as well as candidates who wish to work in one of our other U.S. offices. The choice is yours!

If selected, you will be a part of our exceptional team working on fate and transport modeling in the vadose zone and saturated zone as well as system-level performance assessment modeling at the Hanford Site. Your contributions will support our talented multi-office and multi-disciplinary teams of geologists, hydrogeologists, geochemists, engineers, and GIS analysts. We are looking for someone who has a strong understanding of the subsurface flow and transport processes required for developing appropriate conceptual and numerical models. Our ideal candidate is someone who can clearly and expertly explain results in reports and presentations to peers and a variety of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support on flow and transport modeling projects under the direction of INTERA’s senior modelers. This includes:

  • Performing numerical flow and transport modeling of the subsurface and/or developing system-scale transport models
  • Compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing data to develop conceptual site models and numerical models
  • Preparing reports and technical presentations for clients, regulators, and other stakeholders

 

Required Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Civil/Environmental/Chemical Engineering, Hydrogeology, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with emphasis on numerical modeling of the subsurface processes
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with computer programming and data analysis
  • Solid understanding of hydrogeological principles and practices
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental laws (CERCLA, RCRA, NEPA, etc.)

 

Expected salary range:  $80,000 — $130,000
