INTERA Incorporated is looking for an Environmental Scientist who is interested in a consulting career with our established group of professionals. INTERA is seeking a team player who would like to be involved in environmental and water resources projects and who would like to gain exposure to diverse markets and business environments. In this position, you will be contributing to a technical team of geologists, hydrologists, geochemists, engineers, and GIS analysts. As part of the team, you will be expected to collect, manage and analyze data, author reports, develop presentations, and contribute to the scientific approaches that INTERA develops and delivers. This will include implementing highly technical work plans or studies for complex technical projects, leading teams of technical personnel in the performance of field programs and office-base studies, and providing subject matter expertise to project managers on a variety of environmental and water resources projects.

This position is based in Austin, Texas, where we have an office of over 40 people. In Austin, we work on projects for municipalities, state and federal agencies, water and electric utilities, attorneys, oil/gas and mining companies, and commercial businesses.

Required Education and Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in environmental field
- Good writing and communication skills
- Experience with field team oversight
- Experience with fate and transport of contaminants in varying environmental media
- Experience identifying risks and exposure routes to human health and sensitive environmental receptors
- Experience conducting site investigations to evaluate erosion/sedimentation controls
- The ability to work independently to complete technical work
- The ability to travel to project sites or meetings, including drilling and related field activities that may last one to several weeks at a time
Desired Education and Skills
- Experience with GIS ESRI software and GPS data collection
- Experience analyzing/manipulating data and compiling data tables for reports using software such as Excel or Access
- Experience with RCRA or federal projects
