Environmental Data Analyst / Scientist 21-04-ABQ01

We're looking for a Data Guru to join our talented Information Analytics (IA) team in our Albuquerque, New Mexico, office. This is a great opportunity for a junior-level candidate to collaborate with some of the industry's top-talent, and to be mentored by software and data services experts. In this position, you will be a liaison between the software and database developers on our IA team and the scientists and engineers on our Environmental, Water Resources, and Mining teams, therefore excellent communication in all forms is essential.  

Job Description

The Environmental Data Analyst / Scientist position will interface with the IA group and geoscience and engineering experts, connecting computer science and data management concepts with communicating important data. The Environmental Data Analyst/Scientist will contribute their broad data management skills by designing and developing project databases and data pipelines, and by maintaining, managing, analyzing, and communicating data sets that will inform decision-making in a variety of environmental contexts. This person will be able to support development or identification of tools for data analysis and 3D visualization.  This person will collaborate with project teams to identify opportunities for process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop best practices for data management.

Desired Education and Skills

  • Experience with environmental database frameworks such as EQuIS, Locus, and/or Enviro-Data
  • Exposure to geology, water resources, and/or environmental science
  • Proficiency with programming, scripting, and database languages including but not limited to SQL, SQL Server, Postgres, Python, and R

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geoscience, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
  • Proven computer skills with solid knowledge of database design and programming
