Hydrogeologist / Groundwater Modeler (Entry-or Mid-Level), Houston, TX 21-07-HOU01

INTERA Incorporated is a geoscience and engineering consulting firm with a great opportunity for a Hydrogeologist / Groundwater Modeler in our Houston, Texas, office. We’re on a mission to help our clients manage water-related project risks, so we’re looking for someone with a solid understanding of hydrogeologic principles and practices. We’ll be counting on you to design conceptual and numeric models of groundwater aquifer systems, and then present your results. Meanwhile, you’ll be woven into multi-disciplinary teams from our offices around the country, closely mentored by our reputable senior staff, and challenged to be excellent and innovative in all your solutions.

About the Position

In this position, you will be contributing to multi-dimensional teams of geologists, hydrologists, geochemists, engineers, and GIS analysts. In addition to bringing hydrogeologic concepts to life as numerical models, we need someone who can create clear and captivating reports and presentations for a variety of audiences. Our ideal candidate should have strong data compilation and analyzation skills, as well as the ability to provide quick approximations of flow and transport problems. You will need a strong background in constructing and applying numerical models to simulate groundwater flow in both under-saturated and variably saturated conditions.

Additionally, you should be able to apply your knowledge of numerical methods, flow and transport modeling codes, and analyses of spatial data to independently develop tools that inform water-resource management decisions.

You will work primarily in the office but there are also opportunities to work in the field. Residence in the Houston, Texas, area is required but relocation assistance will be provided if necessary.

Desired Education and Skills

  • The ability and willingness to travel to project sites or meetings for durations that can be up to a week at a time
  • The ability to work independently while being an effective and positive team member
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • The desire to collaborate with diverse groups of people at all levels of skill and classification
