This position will be based in the Western United States in either Albuquerque, NM or Denver, CO, and it promises to be an adventure in the realm of Mining projects. As a pivotal member of our team of scientists and engineers, you will be entrusted with the vital task of leading and providing technical support for a diverse array of projects. These projects may include water supply evaluations, water quality investigations, mine-water management, groundwater and soil remediation, and groundwater recharge, storage, and recovery.
As the lead, you will craft persuasive proposals in which you can showcase your skills in presenting our services to potential clients. Additionally, you'll be an integral part of our forward-thinking business development endeavors, supporting our continued growth and success in the industry.
Responsibilities
- Leading technical aspects of development, operational, and closure stage mining projects
- Performing site characterization and conceptual site model development
- Leading the development of drilling campaigns, including well design, construction, and development
- Providing technical support for mine dewatering and groundwater remediation designs
- Supporting environmental and technical permitting of mining and energy projects
- Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams
- Technical writing and editing
- Communicating complex technical information through reporting and presentations
- Overseeing and collaborating with subcontractors
- Providing mentorship and growth opportunities to junior scientist
- Managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets
- Supporting business development by participating in proposals and networking opportunities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in hydrology, geology, civil, geological, or mining engineering, or a related field with an emphasis in hydrogeology
- 6+ years of professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility, preferably with consulting or mining industry practices
- Investigation experience using various sampling and borehole advancement methods
- Proven ability to effectively communicate with clients and regulators, manage project budgets and schedules, and lead multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and best practices for mine permitting, operations, and reclamation
- Experience in aquifer testing and characterization
- Strong understanding of conceptual site models, contaminant fate and transport concepts, human health and ecological risk, and models to predict contaminant migration, remediation system performance, and receptor risk
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Willingness to travel to project sites and other INTERA offices as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in hydrology, geology, civil, geological, or mining engineering, or a related field with an emphasis in hydrogeology
- Familiarity with financial S-K 1300/NI 43-101 mine regulations and reporting
- Working knowledge of GIS, data management tools, and data visualization software including geologic modeling platforms
- Familiarity with standard analytical and numerical modeling methods
- Professional registration in geology and/or engineering, or the desire/capability of acquiring professional licensure (ex. PE, PG, QP)
- Project management experience
- OSHA HAZWOPER and MSHA training
