Specifically, we are seeking a Federal Programs Director to support the management and execution of job scopes related to growing and supporting work performed for the USDOE related environmental cleanup projects at Los Alamos. In this seller-doer role, you would use your skills and expertise to explore and develop new business opportunities in Los Alamos and manage our environmental projects performed for Los Alamos National Laboratory related work.

Responsibilities
This is a Los Alamos-based seller-doer role that participates in the management and execution of job scopes related to the legacy cleanup of the environmental impacts created as part of the Manhattan Project. This position will operate under the operational and technical direction of the President of INTERA’s Federal, Coastal, and International (FCI) line of business. The chosen candidate will be a key member of the FCI line of business, and the responsibilities of this role include:
- Opening an INTERA office in Los Alamos and develop INTERA’s brand in the Los Alamos DOE market
- Grow INTERA’s presence in Los Alamos over time with a long-term goal of maintaining a substantial standalone business
- Managing large, complex, and/or high-profile environmental projects for INTERA’s clients
- Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities
- Work with the FCI President to establish a clearly defined strategic plan for the Los Alamos office, implement the approved plan, and periodically adjust the plan as needed
- Serving as a Trusted Advisor who develops and manages key client relationships
- Participate in various scientific and trade organization meetings, public meetings, involvement in the local community, and conventions as an ambassador of INTERA
- Performing other duties as necessary at the direction of management
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 13 years of experience in supporting environmental projects
- BS in a geoscience related field
- Strong interest, and passion for creating and growing new business relationships and/or locations
- Demonstrated capability of understanding, interpreting, and applying environmental regulations and technical proficiency in practical situations
- Proven experience with developing and maintaining client and regulator relationships through desirable outcomes on projects
- Strong written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on the ability to give and receive instructions, and give and receive constructive feedback in a positive manner
- Ability to manage, mentor and/or train other INTERA staff members
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment in a manner that aligns with INTERA’s culture
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Geosciences Sciences, or a related field
- 5-10 years of project scoping and proposal preparation experience
- Previous environmental project experience in New Mexico, and in particular Los Alamos, NM
