Responsibilities
- Supporting and participating in environmental and mining site characterization investigations including soil gas investigations, monitoring well drilling and installation, soil and groundwater sampling, and hydraulic testing events
- Completing routine monitoring events such as downloading pressure gauges and measuring water levels
- Operation and maintenance of soil vapor and groundwater remediation and landfill gas destruction systems
- Collecting environmental samples and/or using field instruments to monitor environmental conditions (groundwater, stormwater, surface water, soil vapor, landfill gas, soil/sediment, and air)
- Field documentation and reporting
- Bore log and hydrogeologic cross-section development
- Developing and updating site maps in ArcGIS
- Documenting, managing, and analyzing environmental data to develop graphical summaries and reports using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word (or equivalent software)
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements for fieldwork
- Overseeing work performed by subcontractors to ensure work is completed in accordance with workplans, design drawings, specifications, and/or client expectations
- Interfacing with clients, regulatory personnel, and local stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geosciences, hydrogeology, engineering, or a related field
- Foundational or basic knowledge of hydrogeology
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to ensure routine tasks are completed on schedule
- Ability to provide thorough and accurate records of field activities through the use of forms and daily logs
- Experience with data evaluation and technical report preparation
- Communication of technical and non-technical topics through writing, presentations, and verbal methods to a variety of audiences
- Ability to work both independently and in project teams
- Availability to travel and support field tasks at various project site locations for up to 2 weeks at a time
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in environmental science, geosciences, hydrogeology, or engineering
- Mechanical aptitude and experience maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems (pumps, motors, blowers, field instruments, etc.)
- Prior work experience with an environmental or engineering firm
- Experience with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, environmental drilling techniques, and environmental sample collection
- Desire and/or ability to acquire professional licensure in geology and/or engineering (i.e. PE, PG)
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS, data management tools, and data visualization software
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and certification
