Senior Geologist / Hydrogeologist, Kailua, HI 25-25-HI01

Responsibilities 

The responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Leading and managing field efforts conducting water well and monitoring well design including well drilling oversight, lithologic interpretation, logging, geophysical analysis, and aquifer testing
  • Developing and implementing technical work plans
  • Procuring subcontractors, including drillers, for conducting field-based projects
  • Documenting, managing, and analyzing water and environmental data to develop graphical summaries and reports using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word or equivalent software 
  • Participating in environmental site characterization investigations including soil gas investigations, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling
  • Leading or managing crews that conduct the aforementioned services including the oversight of work performed by subcontractors to ensure work is completed in accordance with work plans, design drawings, specifications, and/or client expectations 
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements for fieldwork 

 

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field 
  • 10 years+ of related experience in geology and hydrogeology 
  • Professional registration as a geologist or hydrogeologist
  • Previous experience with project or task management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Previous experience with drilling oversight
  • Previous experience with analyzing geophysical logs 
  • Efficient project and task management skills
  • The ability to work independently to complete technical work 
  • The ability to travel to project sites or meetings, including drilling and related field activities
  • The ability to manage/mentor junior and field staff

 

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field
  • Previous experience analyzing geophysical logs
  • Previous experience in hard rock geology or basalt flows
  • Previous experience with aquifer test (Aqtesolv, nSIGHTS) and geologic modeling software (Leapfrog preferred)
  • Experience analyzing/manipulating data, ideally with a scripting language, such as Python or R
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certificate

 

Expected Salary Range: $70k - $120k
