Senior Performance Assessment Technical Specialist, Richland, WA 25-29-WA04

INTERA Incorporated is looking for a Senior Performance Assessment Technical Specialist to join our dynamic team in Richland, Washington. In this role, you will play a strategic part in supporting our performance assessment and interim measures scope at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Hanford Site. You will work closely with our senior scientists and project managers to support projects that further our client’s needs under Tri-Party Agreement Appendix I Performance Assessments (IPAs) and DOE Order 435.1 Performance Assessments (PAs). Additionally, you will interface with federal and state agencies, and lead development of regulatory products (PAs, CMS, and other key documents) to further regulatory decision making and strategy development at the Hanford Site. This position is expected to be filled on an hourly as-needed basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret environmental data
  • Preparation of reports and technical presentations for clients, regulators, and other stakeholders
  • Review technical documentation as a senior reviewer to improve deliverable quality
  • Function as a subject matter expert to support client needs
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals are met

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in geology, or a closely related field
  • At least 30 years of experience in environmental and regulatory applications
  • Expert knowledge of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and DOE Order 435.1, Radioactive Waste Management
  • Demonstrated experience of leading hydrogeologic characterization and interpretation, risk assessment, and performance assessment work scope
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing RCRA, Model Toxics Control Act, NEPA/SEPA, CERCLA and other regulatory guidance in support of tank farm facility closure activities and final closure authorization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by publication and presentation record
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an integrated team
  • Willingness to travel as required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience working with the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Washington State Department of Ecology
  • Expert knowledge of Federal and Washington State regulations, assessment, and monitoring requirements for hazardous substances and radionuclides in soil, groundwater, surface water, air, and biota


Expected Salary Range: $95 / hr — $130 / hr
