INTERA Incorporated is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager to join our Mining and Environmental Line of Business in the Albuquerque, New Mexico office. In this role, you will lead and provide technical support to a variety of reclamation, remediation, and environmental characterization projects — helping clients meet regulatory requirements, restore impacted sites, and sustainably manage natural resources. Projects include environmental assessments, hydrogeological studies, subsurface investigations, human health/ecological risk assessments, remedial designs/remedial actions, and remediation system operation, maintenance, and monitoring. Clients include state and municipal agencies and private industries that share our values of environmental stewardship and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project scopes, budgets and schedules, and lead multi-disciplinary teams
- Lead and support technical proposal preparation and business development activities
- Communicate with clients, regulators, and public stakeholders regarding complex environmental characterization and remediation projects
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop reclamation and future use plans that reflect cultural values and ecological sustainability
- Lead the development of technical documents, including remedial investigation/feasibility studies, remedial designs, and optimization studies; lead teams in the operation, maintenance and monitoring of remediation systems; and conduct functionality review of system performance at Superfund, landfill, petroleum storage tank, and industrial sites
- Design and implement field investigations (soil, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and non-aqueous phase liquids)
- Support design and implementation of remediation measures for environmental sites contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, non-aqueous phase liquids, PFAS and emerging contaminants, metal or inorganic contaminants, and/or radionuclides
- Develop site conceptual models and support risk assessments and fate and transport modeling
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients, regulators, and other interested parties
- Mentor junior staff and collaborate with technical teams across the company
- Support business development by maintaining client relationships and identifying new opportunities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, hydrology, or a related field
- 10+ years of relevant professional experience with increasing levels of responsibility
- Demonstrated experience managing environmental projects and supporting business development efforts.
- Strong technical writing, data analysis, verbal and graphic communication, and project management skills
- Investigation experience using various sampling and borehole advancement methods
- Investigation experience using high-resolution site characterization methods
- Solid understanding of conceptual site models, contaminant fate and transport concepts, environmental chemistry, human health and ecological risk, and models to predict contaminant migration through groundwater/surface water/vadose zone, remediation system performance, and receptor risk
- Willingness to travel to project sites and other INTERA offices
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, NMED/NMAC, EPA) and risk-based criteria
- Technical knowledge and demonstrated experience with investigation and remediation of non-aqueous phase liquids
- Technical and regulatory knowledge of emerging contaminants such as PFAS, ethylene dibromide, and 1,4-dioxane
- Master’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering, hydrogeology, geology, or a related field
- Professional licensure
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
